Star Wars Celebration Showcases Several New Lucasfilm Projects

Star Wars Celebration unveiled new information on a variety of Lucasfilm projects.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Favreau and Filoni had one more surprise for the Celebration audience: announcing a new series for Disney+ Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The duo announced Jon Watts, director of Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man trilogy, and Christopher Ford were joining the project. Favreau, Filoni, Watts, and Ford will serve as executive producers. The series is set in the New Republic era and will focus on a group of children lost in the Star Wars galaxy.

Watts and Ford announced that Jude Law would star in Skeleton Crew, which premieres on Disney+ in 2023.

Willow

Executive producers Jonathan Kasdan and Ron Howard took to the Star Wars Celebration stage to talk about Willow. Based on the 1988 film, Willow is an upcoming fantasy adventure series developed exclusively for Disney+. Warwick Davis, who played the titular role in the movie, is returning for the series and is joined by Joanne Whalley, Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, and Erin Kellyman.

The cast and producers of the film revealed the teaser trailer for the series.

Willow premieres on Disney+ on November 30.

Harrison Ford returned to the Star Wars Celebration stage to wish iconic composer John Williams a happy 90th birthday. Williams, who scored every Star Wars and Indiana Jones film, announced his return for Indiana Jones 5. Director James Mangold and producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall joined the two on stage and offered fans a first-look photo of the franchise’s next installment.

Joining Ford in the fifth installment are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, and Toby Jones.

Indiana Jones 5 will release in theaters on June 30, 2023.
