Hamish Linklater, known for his role in Netflix’s Midnight Mass, has officially been cast as the new Dean at Godolkin University for Season of the popular The Boys spin-off series, Gen V. According to an article from Variety, Linklater will play a character named Cipher.

Cipher is described as “the charismatic and charming newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University. Trained as a scientist, he’s politically brilliant, and has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level.”

Linklater joins Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh and Asa Germann. Chance Perdomo also starred in Season 1 but the actor passed away in a motorcycle accident in March. The producers have confirmed that they will not be recasting his role.

The last Dean of Godolkin University, Dean Indira Shetty (Shelley Conn) met her grim demise after it was revealed that she was secretly experimenting on kidnapped super-powered kids to create a virus that is capable of killing supes. Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips) used her mind control powers to force the Dean to ultimately kill herself.

By the end of the first season, Cate and Sam (Asa Germann) return to the Woods, where the super-powered kids are held captive and released to killing non-supes across the school’s campus. Marie, Jordan, Emma and Andre try to stop the attacks but they end up being falsely accused of the attacks while Sam and Cate are seen as the “Guardians of Godolkin.”
