Deadpool 3 is on its way to shake up the Marvel Universe.
For everything that Marvel Studios has coming down the pipeline as soon as January of 2021, there are still a handful of projects even further out on the horizon in the MCU. These include sequels like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the untitled Ant-Man 3, and there are new properties on the way like Blade, Fantastic 4, and X-Men.

One of the properties fans are most looking forward to is Deadpool, the R-rated phenomenon brought to life by Ryan Reynolds. After the first two movies grossed over $1.5 billion combined, it was inevitable that Marvel would want to continue the story for the Merc with a Mouth when his rights came into the MCU. News has even just arrived that progress is being made to officially continue his legacy alongside the rest of Marvel Studios’ iconic characters.
Deadpool 3 Forges Ahead
Deadline has exclusively reported that Marvel Studios has brought Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin aboard to write the untitled Deadpool 3, with starring actor Ryan Reynolds being heavily involved in the search. It is also reported that the Marvel Studios is planning to keep this new sequel R-rated, just as the first two films have been, even as it moves into Disney-based Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This is a very exciting update confirming that Disney is fully committed to bringing Deadpool into the MCU, just as fans of both franchises have wanted ever since the Fox/Disney deal went through. The biggest concern was that Deadpool would remain the R-rated Merc with a Mouth that he has been portrayed as in the first two Fox movies, and Disney seems intent on giving the fans exactly what they want.
There is no word as to when the new Deadpool film will go into production as none of the X-men characters have officially been confirmed yet, but the plans are in the works and the excitement is building to finally see mutants arrive in the MCU.
