It looks like Hasbro will be showcasing Marvel’s Merry Band of Mutants, the X-Men, from X-Men ’97, the upcoming revival of the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series, in its Epic Heroes Series. Recently details surfaced from Preternia that there was going to be a mystery vehicle for the X-Men ’97 4-inch scale Epic Heroes line. And now, it looks like that mystery vehicle has surfaced as it has the same price as the mystery listing, and it’s X-Men Team X-Jet & Storm pack.

You can get an early look at the new X-Jet set below:

X-JET TOY RELEASE REVEALED FOR X-MEN ’97

The X-Jet set is packed with a 4-inch scale Storm figure for the Epic Heroes line, and it looks to be Storm featuring her updated likeness for the upcoming animated series. It’s priced at $34.99, and it looks like it’s expected to ship starting in August.

It looks like the X-Jet can carry Storm or the other X-Men in the Epic Heroes line. The jet includes two projectiles for blast-action fun, and it also has a drop-down hero swing that Storm can hang from. The X-Jet also doubles as a stand, and you can put Storm or other figures on the stand located at the rear of the jet.

I’m not sure yet if this is meant to represent a more miniaturized version of the X-Jet from the animated show, or if perhaps it’s an alternative, single-person jet that the X-Men would use to launch from their base for missions and such. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

The X-Jet & Storm join other figures in the epic heroes line, including Wolverine, Cyclops, and Rogue, which are also showing up in stores now. Other reveals for the toy line include a 14″ Sentinel figure that looks accurately scaled for the characters to fight and a set of roleplaying Wolverine claws. The 14″ Sentinel figures are available to pre-order now for $22.99 at Entertainment Earth.

Unfortunately, we’re still waiting on more updates for the animated series, X-Men ’97. Beau DeMayo is serving as head writer and executive producer on the new animated series.

The show will feature returning cast members from the classic series, including Cal Dodd as Logan/Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast/Hank McCoy, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm/Ororo Munroe, Chris Potter as Remy LeBeau/Gambit, Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler/Kurt Wagner, and Catherine Disher as Jean Grey. New cast members for the upcoming series include Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCasio.

X-Men ’97 is slated to debut and stream exclusively on Disney+ later on. The show was previously announced to debut on the streamer later in 2023. However, there haven’t been any recent updates or announcements on when the show will drop.

Not to mention, an ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), coupled with the actors’ union (SAG-AFTRA) also on strike against the AMPTP, has likely caused further delays. Additionally, traditional animation takes considerable time to finish. So it wouldn’t be surprising if the show is pushed back to later in 2024.

That the toys based on the show are already surfacing right now suggests the show was likely going to drop in fall 2023. Hopefully, there will be an update giving a better idea of the status of the new series very soon. Regardless, X-Men ’97 will be streaming exclusively on Disney+ later on.
