Ravensburger, renowned for its award-winning board games and high-quality toys and puzzles, has just announced the North American release of Mycelia, a captivating deck-building game that promises to enchant both seasoned gamers and newcomers alike. Following its acclaim as a “top 10 family board game” at SPIEL Essen, Mycelia is set to bloom in North America just in time for the holiday season.
Mycelia Offers a Cozy Introduction to Deck-Building
Mycelia stands out as a beginner-friendly introduction to the world of deck-building games. Lysa Penrose, Head of New Games Marketing at Ravensburger, highlights the game’s origin: “Mycelia was born from the inventor’s desire to teach his parents the art of deck-building.” The game is designed to gradually introduce players to the deck-building mechanic, making it an ideal gateway for those new to this genre.

In Mycelia, players are transported to a mystical forest inhabited by mushroom folk. The objective is to collect dewdrops for the forest spirit with the help of these charming characters. Each mushroom card, inspired by real-life fungi, allows players to gather resources, manipulate dewdrops, or assist fellow players. The goal is to befriend unique mushrooms and clear your board of dewdrops first, contributing to the “Shrine of Life” centerpiece.
Art That Brings the Game to Life
Chiara Bellavite, the Art Director, emphasizes the meticulous attention to detail in the game’s artwork. “Each illustration is not only magical and cozy but also reflects the real-world characteristics of the mushrooms,” she explains. The game is a visual treat, with each card featuring captivating illustrations and engaging descriptions that enhance the immersive experience.

Suitable for ages 9 and up, Mycelia can be played by 1-4 players. With an average playtime of 45 minutes and a retail price of $39.99, it’s an accessible and engaging option for family game nights and cozy gatherings. Pre-orders are available on Amazon, and the game hits local stores on December 1.
