Drawing from Personal Experience
In our recent interview, Chien opened up about the process behind one of the series’ most intense scenes, offering a rare glimpse into the emotional labor that goes into crafting such a powerful performance. His ability to draw from personal experiences and memories has resulted in a portrayal that is not only compelling but deeply resonant.
“I just remember basically summoning every ounce of memory and experience and just energy that I had from this entire process and kind of unleashed it. You know, I think Charles is kind of a broken, tortured soul and he has moments of self-hatred and self-loathing. And I think in that fight, he realizes that he doesn’t have to keep being a monster if he’s able to find the will to forgive himself.”
