The title of the new series will be announced at a later date. The show will reunite Pablo and Weatherly on screen for the first time in 10 years. The two actors are also attached as executive producers for the show alongside John McNamara who wrote the premiere episode and will also serve as the showrunner.
NEW NCIS SPINOFF BRINGS BACK FAN-FAVORITE TIVA PAIRING
The show is also being executive-produced by Laurie Lieser, Christina Strain, and Shelley Meals. The Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo pairing is best known to fans as “TIVA.” Previously on the original NCIS series, Tony DiNozzo left the team to raise his and Ziva’s daughter. Years later, it was discovered that Ziva was still alive, leading her to complete one final mission for the team before she was reunited with Tony and their daughter in Paris.
In the new Paramount+ series, the two are found together in Paris where they’ve been raising their daughter, Tali, together. After Tony’s security company is attacked, they are led on a chase across Europe and left to try and figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so they can finally have their unconventional happy ever after.
Speaking on the new series in a joint statement, Weatherly and de Pablo stated, “We’ve been talking about this story for many years, and now with John McNamara at the helm, we are ready.” They continued, “The world of Tony and Ziva (and daughter Tali) promises to be an action-packed roller coaster fueled by love, danger, tears, and laughter. We also want to acknowledge and thank the fans from around the world who supported the ‘TIVA’ movement for years. To this day, they say hello in grocery stores and on the street to tell us how much these characters mean to them and ask what Tony and Ziva are up to now. This is for you!”
Showrunner and executive producer John McNamara revealed that the new series will shoot across Europe. He said via a press release, “I’m incredibly excited to step into the NCIS universe with Cote and Michael and thrilled to explore it from a few new angles.” He added, “Given that the franchise is such a global sensation, I think it’s phenomenal that CBS Studios and Paramount+ have given us the green light to shoot in Europe. As to the title of this series, if I told you what it is, I’d be violating the Espionage Act.”
NCIS is one of the world’s most popular and successful television franchises. The show drew an estimated 300 million viewers across the world for its 2022-2023 season across the world on all platforms including broadcast, cable, streaming, and syndication (based on Nielsen and internal data). The series has also consistently ranked as one of the top five franchises on the Paramount+ streaming service since it launched.
