Oscar-nominated filmmaker Noah Baumbach has assembled an impressive all-star cast for his upcoming original film currently in the works at Netflix. Details are still light on the project, but Netflix announced this week that the new film will star Academy Award winner, Laura Dern, Emmy winner Billy Crudup, and Riley Keough.

They join the cast for the upcoming film opposite George Clooney and Adam Sandler for the upcoming film from Noah Baumbach. Baumbach re-teams with Marriage Story actor Laura Dern for the upcoming film.

NOAH BAUMBACH PUTTING TOGETHER IMPRESSIVE CAST FOR UPCOMING NETFLIX FEATURE

Baumbach’s 2019 feature Marriage Story received Academy Award nominations for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. It earned six Oscar nominations total, and Dern won a golden statue for her performance, so it’s unsurprising that Baumbach could put together such a prestigious cast of all-stars.

Details on the upcoming feature are still light, but the streamer describes the project as “a funny and emotional coming-of-age film about adults.” It sounds like this has the potential to be a fun, down-to-earth, yet poignant and bittersweet dramedy, much like Marriage Story was. It should be interesting to see what Baumbach comes up with here.

Baumbach is directing the feature from a script he co-wrote with Emily Mortimer, an accomplished actress. It’s also being produced by Baumbach, Amy Pascal, former head of Sony Pictures who is best known for her work on the Spider-Man franchise, and David Heyman, who collaborated with Baumbach on Marriage Story. It definitely appears like this film will be cut from a similar cloth and perhaps be a spiritual successor to Marriage Story based on the description.

Meanwhile, Baumbach is also up for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Barbie, which he co-wrote with filmmaker Greta Gerwig. The film is up for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera, and Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling. This year’s 96th Annual Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, March 10.
