A terrifying new trailer and poster has been revealed from 20th Century Studios’ upcoming psychological horror film The First Omen has been revealed. The film is a prequel to The Omen, the classic horror film franchise that has frightened viewers since it first hit the cinemas in the 70’s.

The upcoming film takes place in Rome where a young American woman begins her life in serving a church where she encounters a darkness that makes her question her own faith. Check out the terrifying trailer below:
BEHIND THE PRODUCTION OF THE OMEN
The upcoming horror film is directed by Arkasha Stevenson, who has co-wrote the screenplay with Tim Smith and Keith Thomas. This will be the sixth film in The Omen franchise, and the film stars Neil Tiger Free, Tawfeek Barhom, Sônia Braga, Ralph Ineson, and Bill Nighy.
News about the prequel film was first announced in April 2016 with Ben Jacoby writing the script and Antonio Campos in talks to direct. By May 2022, the studio began developing it with Arkasha Stevenson signing on in her feature directorial debut. David S. Goyer and Keith Levine are set to produce the film under the Phantom Four Films label. Free was eventually cast as the lead role in late August 2022.
Production designer Eve Stewart said it was important to add unique locations when it came to the beginning of the principal photography. She stated the following:
“We wanted it to be very unique and beautiful building, and since we couldn’t find everything within one building, we put three buildings together and made sure that they all linked well with another.”

Principal photography took place on location in Rome and on sound stages at Lumina Studios from September 19 to November 22, 2022. Even though the costumes featured in the film look as if the story will be taking place in the 1940s/1950s, the film takes place in the 1970s with some outfits inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s fashion from that era.

The First Omen opens exclusively in theaters nationwide on April 5, 2024.
