Yesterday, we treated you all to the first three matches on the card for Night One of WrestleMania XL, but now we dive into the rest of the packed matches scheduled for this Saturday, including the largest Tag-Team Main Event in the history of WrestleMania!
Jimmy Uso vs. Jey Uso
Championships aren’t everything in Wrestling. Or, rather, they don’t mean anything unless you have a hero and a villain vying over the titles. Each bout has a great storyline fueling their showcase of talent. But this time, the bout is years in the making.
Following Jey’s departure from The Bloodline last year, Mister Yeet has been hard at work main eventing RAW events and regaining his title as Main Event Jey Uso. However, after losing his opportunity to obtain the biggest championship in the WWE at last year’s SummerSlam thanks to interference from Jimmy, Jey is hellbent on showing his brother the truth of Roman Reigns’ manipulations.
It’s a battle between brothers in what deserves a Main Event spot as Jimmy and Jey fight, Jey for revenge, and Jimmy to prove he’s better than his brother.
Bianca Belair, Naomi, and Jade Cargill vs. DamageCTRL
After what felt like years, AEW’s premiere Women’s Wrestler who went undefeated as their highlight champion Jade Cargill makes her WWE Debut alongside the returning Naomi and the EST of WWE Bianca Belair against the united front of DamageCTRL with Asuka, Kairi Sane, and Dakota Kai. After Bayley won the Royal Rumble earlier this year, she chose to face her teammate Iyo Sky for the WWE Women’s Championship at this year’s WrestleMania, leaving DamageCTRL to attack her and begin a tirade against the entire Women’s Division on SmackDown.
Now united, Bianca Belair, Naomi, and Jade Cargill look to take down DamageCTRL once and for all and prove that they are truly the B-E-S-T.
Latino World Order vs. Santos Escobar and “Dirty” Dominick Mysterio
After months of back and forth, the LWO, led by WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio with NXT Luchador Dragon Lee look to take revenge after a series of attacks by the traitorous Santos Escobar, now with additional help from The Judgment Day’s most love-to-hate member and Rey’s son “Dirty” Dominick Mysterio.
The feud has been years in the making, with Rey looking for revenge after losing the United States Title to Logan Paul at last year’s Crown Jewel event due to Santos Escobar’s interference, effectively turning heel. Since then, Rey was left on the injured list, with LWO members Carlito, and Zelina Vega, and former Legado Del Fantasma members Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro have feuded with Escobar and his cronies, Angel and Humberto.
In a match for the ages filled with enough high-flying Superstars and the fuel of family rivalry, this tag-team match is set to be one hell of a bout.
Cody Rhodes/Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. The Bloodline
Okay, we know why you’re all here: the main event, the biggest tag team match in WrestleMania history. The Rock and Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes and Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Even if you have no idea what’s going on in WWE, you know this match is big, so allow me to attempt to use as few words as possible to hype up this already blockbuster match.
After losing at last year’s WrestleMania due to Bloodline interference, Cody Rhodes’ path back to WrestleMania has been rocky…no pun intended. Coming out to the Royal Rumble with CM Punk as his last obstacle to his guaranteed rematch with WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns and winning for the second year in a row, the path was clear…until there was a rock in his path (pun intended).
It was announced that the returning Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was campaigning to face Roman himself at WrestleMania, forcing Cody to give up his match in the most-disliked segment of the year. However, following comments by his frequent arch-nemesis Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Cody would retake his right to choose Roman at the Showcase of the Immortals, leading to a feud between The Bloodline and Cody and Seth.
All of this came to a head when The Rock and Roman challenged Cody and Seth to a tag-team main event, with a stipulation: If Seth and Cody win the match, then the Bloodline would be barred from ringside at the night two Main Event of Cody vs. Roman. However, if Cody and Seth lose, then the championship match would be Bloodline Rules, a no-holds-barred bout where anything goes, including Bloodline interference.
Aside from the star power of the American Nightmare’s feud with The Bloodline over the last two years, the match holds major weight going into Night Two. And, for a first in the history of WWE, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins will each Main Event both nights of WrestleMania.
WrestleMania XL Night Two
And that brings you up to speed on Night One of WrestleMania XL! With big ramifications, huge matches, brutal storylines, and huge potential for an amazing story, WWE has set a high bar for this year’s Showcase of the Immortals. But this is just Night One! What can we expect for Night Two???
