THE BOOK BEHIND THE FILM

The Watchers by A.M. Shine is a horror fiction novel that was released in 2022. It is a gripping and atmospheric horror novel that adeptly intertwines ancient Irish folklore with a modern survival story. The novel has been praised for its claustrophobic and intense narrative and the story takes place in the remote and mysterious forests of Galway, Ireland.

A.M. Shine is an Irish author who has written Literary Horror stories. He has also written The Creeper. His short stories have won various prIzes and he is a member of the Irish Writers Centre. The Watchers, which was his debut novel, was critically acclaimed by readers and reviewers.

Two years later in February 2023, it was announced that New Line Cinema would be producing the film adaptation of the book. Ishana Night Shyamalan, who is the daughter of filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, will be making her first feature directorial debut. In April, it was announced that Fanning and Campbell joined the cast of the film. When it came to filming the principal photography, it took place in Dublin, Wicklow, and Galway from July to September 2023. Production was granted an interim agreement to continue filming during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike in mid-July.

A film that has a mix of Irish folklore is both interesting and horrifying. Just by looking at the trailer, it gives off an eerie feeling and if you are a horror fan who also loves looking into spooky folklore, The Watchers looks like a fascinating film to see.
