LIONESS Kicks Off Production for Season 2

Paramount+ recently confirmed that Lioness has begun production on its second season. The hit series was co-created by Taylor Sheridan of Yellowstone fame, and Season 2 has begun production in Texas.

Paramount+ recently confirmed that Lioness has begun production on its second season. The hit series was co-created by Taylor Sheridan of Yellowstone fame, and Season 2 has begun production in Texas, with a star-studded cast, including Zoe Saldaña, Academy Award-winner Nicole Kidman, Academy Award-winner Morgan Freeman, Genesis Rodriguez, Laysla De Oliveira, and Michael Kelly.

The show is coming back after a record-setting debut for the streamer. Saldaña and Kidman also serve as executive producers for the espionage thriller series. It’s produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios exclusively for Paramount+.

PRODUCTION KICKS OFF FOR SPECIAL OPS: LIONESS SEASON 2

Inspired by an actual U.S. Military program, the show follows the life of Joe (Saldaña) as she seeks to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror. The show also stars Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, and Hannah Love Lanier.

David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox also serve as executive producers for the show. It’s distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. The show’s hit first season set a new record for the streamer as the most-watched worldwide series premiere on Paramount+ on launch day at the time of its release. It drew nearly six million total viewers in its first week across Paramount+ globally and a linear preview on the Paramount Network.

Sheridan has put together a growing slate of shows on the streamer, including Tulsa King, Landman, Mayor of Kingston, 1923, 1883, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves. Tulsa King also has a second season in the works. Season 3 of Mayor of Kingstown debuts next month.

With filming now underway, Season 2 does not yet have an official release date. Season 2 of Special Ops: Lioness will debut exclusively on Paramount+ at a later date, with a special preview airing on the Paramount Network.
