MVP recently spoke at length about how WWE mishandled former champion Bobby Lashley. He also talked about how we may be seeing the former members of The Hurt Business very soon. MVP was a prominent part of a major faction on RAW, The Hurt Business. The group was composed of MVP, Cedric Alexander, Shelton Benjamin, and Bobby Lashley. All of the members of the faction but Alexander have left WWE.

Last month Bobby Lashley decided to not renew his contract with WWE. It ended a six year run with WWE. The run saw Lashley booked as an absolute destroyer then to just some mid-carder. His last year in the company saw him relegated to low-level feuds and high-profile matches which he would lose. It was clear he was not used anywhere near his potential towards the end.
MVP SPEAKS CANDIDLY ON HOW WWE MISHANDLED BOBBY LASHLEY
During a recent live stream with K&S WrestleFest, MVP discussed how he thinks Bobby Lashley could and should have been used. His pitch compared him to a dominant part-timer but thinks the misuse was due to Lashley’s age. MVP stated:
“You want to go with fresh and younger talent, I get that. He still looks better than everybody on the roster. He’s in better shape than everybody on the roster. He can literally kick everybody’s ass on the roster. Bobby is Black Brock. Why wouldn’t you use Bobby in that position and make guys on the way out? Triple H retired when he was 49 or 50. Bobby just turned 48.”

During Lashley’s latest run in WWE, he was a United States champion, Intercontinental, and a two-time WWE Champion. He had feuds with Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Goldberg, Finn Balor, Austin Theory, Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, and many others.
Lashley’s work with Hurt Business gave him extra screen time and made him a face to watch on RAW. He was one of the scariest men on the roster, but he was often forgotten about. Any big man could go against him and have a great match with him because of his size, strength, and experience. However, that was during the Vince McMahon era, and Triple H for whatever reason didn’t see him the same way.

However, The Hurt Business (aside from Alexander) is free from WWE. They have not debuted anywhere just yet. Rumors are, as they always are with ex-WWE wrestlers, that AEW may be interested in signing them. With their age, AEW may pass on them or at least some of them. These are just rumors as to where they may go, but it seems like they are sticking together as a team. MVP hinted at some news coming out soon for the group during his livestream. He continued:
“The Hurt Business is dead, and it was killed off by the powers that be at WWE, but I can say that myself, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin are … talking amongst ourselves about what we want to do going forward so I say ‘Stay tuned.'”

AEW isn’t the only game in town and another big American promotion has been welcoming in ex-WWE talent with open arms. The TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth is a former WWE guy you may have heard of named Dolph Ziggler. They have a lack of big names in the promotion and need good experienced guys to put over some of their newer talent.
Both Lashley and MVP have a history in TNA. The hardcore TNA fans would know who they are. Benjamin is a very well-known wrestler and would do very well against some of the smaller and more acrobatic guys.
Do you feel that Bobby Lashley was mis-booked his entire most current run with WWE or just since Triple H took over? What do you think was the peak of his run? Aside from the Lana storyline, what was the valley? Would you have booked him as an alternative to Brock Lesnar or is he too different for that? Where do you think The Hurt Business should end up? Is AEW or TNA a better fit? Let us know on social media what some dream matches you see for Lashley and Benjamin outside of WWE.
