The DLC expansion of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, will have an epilogue! Nintendo and The Official Pokemon Company revealed a new trailer for the Kitakami Adventure, which will serve as an epilogue to Scarlet and Violet!
As it happened with Pokémon Sword and Shield back in 2020, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet had a two-part DLC expansion launched months after its official release. Known collectively as The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, the story of the DLC expansion focuses on Carmine and Kieran, a pair of siblings who hail from Kitakami and attend Blueberry Academy. Unlike the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra in Pokemon Sword and Shield, both The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk connect to each other in a storyline.
In the first part, the player visits Kitakami for a field trip, where they meet Carmine and Kieran. The second part has the player later attending Blueberry Academy as an exchange student. Although many mysteries were solved, such as the nature of the Kitakami heroes and the origin of the Terastal phenomenon, the story has not reached its true end…
A Peach Within Reach in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero
On December 20, 2023, The Pokémon Company released a brand-new trailer for additional content in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In an unprecedented move for the series, there will be an epilogue to fully conclude the DLC campaigns. Following the events of The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk, players will revisit Kitakami. The rivals of the main game– Nemona, Penny, Arven –will also join in on the adventure and contribute to the tale.
The trailer concludes with a shot of a suspicious peach-like object at Peachy’s in Mossui Town. Introduced in The Teal Mask, Ogerpon and the Loyal Three – Okidogi, Munkidori, Fezandipiti – are moral inversions of the characters from the Japanese folktale of Momotaro. The benevolent Ogerpon is based on the ogre, whereas the sinister Loyal Three are based on Momotaro’s animal companions (dog, monkey, and pheasant respectively).
Momotaro himself is yet to be represented, but a peculiar peach-like object just like the one at Peachy’s, along with the silhouette of a child among the Loyal Three, could be seen in the true retelling of the Kitakami legend. Given that the Loyal Three turned out to be anything but heroic figures in Kitakami, this spells ominous implications on who or what Momotaro’s counterpart could be…
To be able to play the epilogue of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, players must complete a certain postgame event in the base game and complete the main stories of both The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk. Purchasing the DLC is certainly required to know the true end of the story.

The epilogue of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is scheduled to be released on January 11, 2024. The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk are available now on the eShop or bundled with the game.
