The Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe, the beloved Sonic-themed restaurant, is back in San Diego starting July 25, 2024, just in time for San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). This three-month pop-up eatery marks the fourth collaboration between gaming brand SEGA and Secret Sauce Society’s Andy Nguyen, Kevin Seo, and Phillip Huynh. Following a successful launch in San Diego in 2023, the restaurant also opened pop-up shops near Los Angeles and Houston, further cementing its popularity.
A Sonic Experience Like No Other
The latest Speed Cafe location will continue to feature iconic characters and themes from the Sonic universe but will also be heavily inspired by the Ultimate Lifeform, Shadow the Hedgehog. This theme honors the Fearless: Year of Shadow brand campaign, introducing exclusive elements specially designed for San Diego Comic-Con.
Visitors can expect an immersive experience filled with elements from across Sonic’s iconic universe, exclusive Shadow-themed items and merchandise, and surprises from SEGA and the Secret Sauce Society team.

Each Speed Cafe order will come in custom packaging, and fans will be able to purchase Speed Cafe merchandise including T-shirts, hoodies, and hats in colors exclusive to the San Diego location.
Grand Opening and Comic-Con Festivities
Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe will host a Grand Opening celebration starting at 11 a.m. on July 25, the first day of San Diego Comic-Con 2024. Throughout SDCC (July 25-28), the first 25 people in line each day will be eligible to receive special Sonic giveaways from SEGA. The official blue mascot will be onsite throughout the four-day celebration, and surprise guest autograph signings and appearances will take place during Comic-Con. Additional Sonic Activities During Comic-Con
For fans looking to experience more of Sonic the Hedgehog during San Diego Comic-Con, a live Sonic Symphony performance will take place on July 27, 2024, at the San Diego Civic Center. Additionally, a custom Shadow-inspired motorcycle will be cruising around the Gaslamp District on both July 27 and July 28, adding to the Sonic-themed excitement in the area.
