WWE: NEXT GEN DOCUSERIES DEBUTS IN ONE WEEK

WWE: Next Gen will follow young athletes going to tryouts in Los Angeles, then heading to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Flordia, and also get coaching and insights from the biggest Superstars in the world, including Cena himself. Cena serves as an Executive Producer for the project. The trailer shows footage of him coaching the recruits at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California ahead of last year’s WrestleMania 39.

The road to the ring will challenge these young talents, but the biggest tests they will face are the ones they create themselves. Besides executive producing the project, Cena will also be a narrator. The previously announced docuseries had the working title of WWE Recruits.

The show is an eight-episode docuseries that will start streaming on Roku on April 1. Besides Cena, the show is executive-produced by Arthur Smith, Frank Sinton, Ian Mallahan, Sharalynn Cornwall, and Dan Baime. It’s produced by WWE and A. Smith & Co. Productions.

Based on the trailer, the new docuseries seems highly reminiscent of the old reality competition show for WWE, Tough Enough. However, Next Gen looks to be taking a more personal touch with its intimate look at the athletes who are vying to become new WWE Superstars.

The docuseries will also feature appearances by the likes of WWE Chief Creative Officer and former Superstar Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, former WWE Champion Ettore “Big E” Ewan, Bianca Belair, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, and more surprise guests. Viewers can watch the series on Roku devices or TVs. It’s also easily accessible online at TheRokuChannel.com, iOS, and Android devices, Amazon Fire TVs, Samsung TVs, Google TVs, and other Antroid TV OS devices.
