The project is currently in the works from 20th Television and will be a limited series for Netflix. It’s described as a mystery thriller project.

CLAIRE DANES TO STAR IN NEW MYSTERY THRILLER THE BEAST IN ME

The limited series will follow an acclaimed author, Aggie Wiggs (Danes), who is struggling to write after the tragic loss of her son, turning inward and becoming somewhat of a reclusive ghost. She soon finds an interesting new subject when Nile Sheldon moves in next door. Sheldon is a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once a prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance.

Wiggs soon finds herself horrified and fascinated by this man, and she soon starts compulsively hunting for the truth, chasing his demons while fleeing her own. This starts a game of cat and mouse that has the potential to turn deadly.

Gordon serves as executive producer and showrunner for the miniseries, and it’s created, written, and executive produced by Gabe Rotter (The X-Files). It’s being produced for Netflix by 20th Television. Other executive producers include Daniel Pearle, Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross, and David Kissinger for Conaco. Jodie Foster (True Detective: Night Country, Contact) is also attached as an executive producer.

Overall, the show sounds like an exciting series, and it features an impressive group of talent behind the camera. Claire Danes reuniting with Homeland co-creator Howard Gordon is also very interesting.

It will be interesting to see who the show casts as the Nile Sheldon character and how it tackles the cat-and-mouse thriller aspect. With Danes headlining the show, and Rotter and Gordon on board, this definitely looks like a series to keep an eye on moving forward. It also has the potential to become a prestige series for Netflix and 20th Television.

The Beast in Me is currently in the works and does not yet have an official release date. It will stream exclusively on Netflix later on.
