It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Edge in a WWE ring, but with 2020 on the horizon it looks like all of that could change. Adam Copeland, AKA Edge, has reportedly signed a new WWE contract that would bring the Rated R Superstar back to the squared circle, possibly setting up a match for Wrestlemania, according to reports from PW Insider. Here’s what the report had to say:
We’ve heard that Copeland signed a new deal with WWE that has a pretty nice upside.
“My gut feeling is we’ll see Edge in the Royal Rumble as a surprise (as that seems like the perfect place to make a big splash with a return for Wrestlemania season) and possibly even see him do a few matches on major events. “
A Decade of WWE Without Edge
This would be the first time Copeland has competed in any ring since announcing his retirement in April 11, 2011. Edge has went on record saying he could compete tomorrow if he wanted to. During his podcast with Christian, he said he had learned a lot about his injury since his retirement. During Edge’s retirement, he has made many appearances on the TV show Haven, where he performed all of his own stunts and even dished out a spear or two.
As much as we enjoy Copeland as an actor, his most acclaimed performance has been in the ring and that’s where fans want to see him. If the PW Insider report is to be believed, then we might see Edge as a surprise entry in next year’s Royal Rumble. That would speedily start off a program that lead us and him to Wrestlemania.
