It has been recently revealed that Timothy Olyphant will be joining The Mandalorian Season 2 in an undisclosed role. Now it seems that /Film has given us the scoop on who exactly Olyphant will be portraying and why he will be wearing Boba Fett’s armor.
Wait? Did you say Boba Fett’s armor? Yes, according to the news outlet, Olyphant will be playing the role of Cobb Vanth in The Mandalorian Season 2.

Cobb Vanth was a human male from the Aftermath books that lived around the time of the Battle of Endor. Once a slave, he rose to become a sheriff of Freetown on the planet Tatooine after acquiring a set of Mandalorian armor from Jawas in 4 ABY. The following year, Vanth enlisted the services of Jabba’s former animal trainer Malakili in raising a young Hutt named Borgo. Months later, Freetown was later attacked by the Red Key Raiders but Cobb managed to enlist the Tusken Raiders’ help in driving the criminals away.
It is being assumed that the Mandalorian armor purchased by Cobb Vanth was the armor used by Boba Fett himself.
What Does Timothy Olyphant’s Character Mean For Boba Fett?
This news that Timothy Olyphant will be playing Cobb Vanth is very interesting. Especially since it was just recently announced that Temuera Morrison will be showing up in The Mandalorian playing as everyone’s favorite gunslinger.

It could be possible that Boba Fett will only appear in flashbacks and is still canonically dead from his dip into the Sarlacc. It could also be possible that Boba Fett has indeed been alive this whole time, but has been in hiding for some reason but has now returned to reclaim his armor.
Either way it seems that news of Boba Fett showing up in The Madalorian definitely has fans excited, and I for one cannot wait to see what series creator Jon Favreau and crew decides to do with the character!
