‘Marvel 616’ On Disney+ Unveils New Look into Eight Unique Filmmakers and Storytellers

Along with decades worth of movies and tv series, Disney+ has gained a huge following for its new original content, particularly including new documentaries on real-life events and personalities the newest being Marvel 616. While all of the real people showcased in these new series are involved with Disney in some way, be it with the Star Wars or Marvel or the Disney company as a whole, there are so many incredible stories making their way to the streaming service with brand new faces to celebrate in every new release.

Right now, the platform is showcasing a few interesting topics through their documentaries including wildlife, the Disney animated renaissance, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and more. One of the newest of these projects has just put out a press release as well, one that teases a brand new view into storytelling based off of all things Marvel.

Disney+ has just released a brand new trailer and press release for the new Marvel 616 anthology series, an original documentary series premiering on the streaming network on November 20, 2020. The full release can be seen below:

Marvel’s 616” explores Marvel’s rich legacy of pioneering characters, creators and storytelling to reflect the world outside your window. Each documentary, helmed by a unique filmmaker, showcases the intersections of storytelling, pop culture, and fandom within the Marvel Universe. Episodes in this anthology series will cover topics including Marvel’s world-spanning artists, the trailblazing women of Marvel Comics, discovering the “forgotten” characters of Marvel, and much more.

Marvel 616 Trailer

The full one-minute-45-second trailer for the new series can be seen here:

This trailer teases yet another amazing look into the world of Marvel comics and the impact that the characters in them have made in so many peoples’ lives. There are glimpses of how new comic writers interpret classic characters, transformations with cosplay, and some of the massive risks taken in the name of telling a great story.

The very first bit of dialogue in the trailer calls back to a saying from the late Marvel comics and movie legend Stan Lee that said “The Marvel Universe is the world outside your window, and that people could find characters they could see themselves in.” While every day brings new instances through social media and more on fans showing their love for these characters, this documentary looks set to show so many details on some of the innovators and creators so intricately involved with giving the stories on these characters to fans in their own unique way.

The series is also set to have some major Hollywood names putting in work behind the scenes, including directing credits from both Gillian Jacobs and Alison Brie from Community, which was created by world-famous Marvel directors Joe and Anthony Russo. It will be interesting to find out more details on this documentary as its release date gets closer, but Marvel fans should have another fun piece of insight to look forward to when it arrives.
