Many know Justin Chon for his roles in the Twilight saga and 21 & Over, but the new trailer for Blue Bayou – which he also wrote and directed – shows a new side to the actor. 

Blue Bayou will be released in theaters September 17, 2021 by Focus Features. Check out the official synopsis below:

An official selection of the 2021 Cannes Film Festival from award-winning writer and director, Justin Chon, Blue Bayou is the moving and timely story of a uniquely American family fighting for their future. Antonio LeBlanc (Chon), a Korean adoptee raised in a small town in the Louisiana bayou, is married to the love of his life Kathy (Alicia Vikander) and step-dad to their beloved daughter Jessie.

Struggling to make a better life for his family, he must confront the ghosts of his past when he discovers that he could be deported from the only country he has ever called home.

It’s nice to see Chon taking on a different kind of role to show his versatility as an actor.  If all goes well, this could turn heads and launch Chon’s career in a whole new direction free of sparkly vampires.  We’ll have to wait and see Blue Bayou on December 17th, 2021 to find out.
