Marvel Studios is looking to pull back the curtains on its 25th theatrical release, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which will introduce the MCU’s first new leading hero of Phase 4.
After an excruciatingly long wait due to the world heath crisis, the MCU is looking to make a splash and help bring theaters back to the forefront with this origin story for Simu Liu’s fascinating hero.

Taking small pieces from the MCU’s long-standing history, like the Ten Rings organization along with Wong and the Abomination, MCU fans from every era will have something fun to look forward to upon this movie’s release. With ties back to the franchise’s earliest days surrounding an exciting new cast of characters, the stage is set for something truly special to add something truly special to the MCU narrative.
Shang-Chi Premieres To Audience’s Delight

Last night, Disney and Marvel pulled the stops to deliver the first major event for The Legend of the Ten Rings with the first public viewings for critics and Marvel’s top people. The red carpet shone brilliantly as stars like Simu Liu and Awkwafina made appearances for fans, and the team that brought this film together teased all the excitement to expect when it premieres worldwide in a couple of weeks.
After the movie’s first major outing, the first reviews are officially out to the world on the job Marvel Studios did with their next big hero.
The Illuminerdi’s own Joe Deckelmeier thoroughly enjoyed the movie having “some of the best (action) I’ve seen in the MCU” and called Simu Liu his “favorite actor in the MCU:”

Scott Mendel gave the movie praise as the “best martial arts movie” he’s seen “in a long time” and called the movie “the best superhero film of 2021 so far:”
POC Culture thought the movie was “emotional, beautiful & HILARIOUS” while praising it as “an amazing blend of East meets West:”
ThisInsider correspondent Kirsten Acuna spoke of the film being “full of badass women” while saying “Marvel has another hit on its hands:”

Collider’s Drew Taylor through the film was “an absolute triumph” and had “some of the very best action in the MCU.” Additionally, he heaped praise on Simu Liu for being “your new favorite Avenger:”
Dani Fernandez thoroughly enjoyed the fight choreography in the movie and said the outing “has so much heart:”

The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez praised the outing as “Marvel’s first true ‘family movie'” while calling it “loads of fun:”
Fandom’s Eric Goldman “really dug” the film and spoke of it having “its own vibe and distinct elements that make it stand out” from other MCU outings:
I really dug #ShangChi! There is a lot not in the trailers (maybe avoid ads in the next couple of weeks I fear will show more?) and it has its own vibe and distinct elements that make it stand out and not feel like a standard origin story. And Simu Liu makes for an awesome hero.

Wendy Lee Szany called the Marvel outing “PHENOMENAL” and praised Simu Liu as he “fully embraces the marvel superhero role:”
THR’s Aaron Couch called the crowd at the premiere “the most enthusiastic I have been with since Endgame.” Additionally, he praised Simu Liu and Awkwafina as “instant MCU all-stars” and hyped the effects of the post-credits scene:
