DC fans finally got their first look at the upcoming season of Young Justice, Young Justice Phantoms, as a part of the DC FanDome event.

The series will find its third and (hopefully) final home at HBO Max after airing on Cartoon Network for season 1 and season 2 and on the now-defunct DC Universe streaming service for season 3.

The trailer shows our favorite DC sidekicks in action as they return to kick some bad-guy butt for the fourth time around. It seems from the trailer that the series will be focusing more so on the original cast of characters again, which is something season 3 was lacking.

Although some of the newer characters are still prominently featured such as Gar Logan / Beast Boy being at odds with his unfortunate past. The new members of the team are shown through quick snippets throughout the trailer but the main focus was on the characters we met back in season 1.

Previously On Young Justice

The series had been canceled from 2013 all the way until it was revived by DC Universe in an, at the time, unprecedented movement by the fans of the show. On DC Universe the show was able to be much more violent than the first two seasons seen on Cartoon Network and focused on much more serious subjects.

When we last saw the team they were taking on the deadly duo Vandal Savage (as teased at the end of season 2) and the ultimate DC Supervillain, Darkseid. While the team was successful in taking them down it seems that their victory will be short-lived.

Now, in Young Justice: Phantoms we will see the team taking on conflicts that won’t just affect their Earth, but every other Earth that takes place within the DC Multiverse. Who knows maybe we’ll even get to see some cool multiversal crossovers in this epic fourth season of Young Justice.

The show already (kind of) crossed over with Teen Titans Go! back in 2015, so it isn’t something that is completely out of the realm of possibility. DC also just loves doing stuff with the multiverse. This is especially the case in the comics and even the movies will be joining in on the fun as the upcoming Flash movie will heavily feature the multiverse and will likely serve as a soft reboot for the DCEU.

I for one, cannot wait to see what this fourth season Young Justice will have in store for us fans. I was 10 years old when the show first came out back in 2010. Being able to see the show as an adult is absolutely amazing and the fact that it’s still going after all these years is truly remarkable.
