New Catwoman: Hunted images focus on the bad, but is somehow oh so good.
Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released some images of their feature-length, anime-style, production, Catwoman: Hunted. The latest DC animated feature stars the ferocious feline anti-hero trotting the globe with Batwoman, Interpol, Leviathan, and a consortium of all kinds of villains on her tail. But being Selina Kyle, Catwoman never loses her cool.

The biggest, baddest and often times dumbest villain on Leviathan’s roster is Tobias Whale, who opens the film attempting to chase down a fleeing Catwoman with his own fleet of speedsters. Bet on Catwoman. Keith David (They Live, The Thing, Gargoyles) supplies the deep, textured voice of Tobias Whale. CATWOMAN: HUNTED © 2021 Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. There are cat fights galore in Catwoman: Hunted – and one of the more challenging pits Cheshire against Catwoman on a roof high above a meeting of Leviathan. Kelly Hu (Arrow, X2: X-Men United) provides the voice of Cheshire, while Elizabeth Gillies (Dynasty, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, Vacation) leads the star-studded voice cast as Catwoman. Always thinking himself the ladies’ man, Black Mask gets cornered by numrous women – namely Catwoman and Interpol agent Julia Pennyworth – and decides he’ll need far more than his charm and good looks to survive the encounter. Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) give voice to Black Mask. CATWOMAN: HUNTED © 2021 Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. CATWOMAN and all related characters and elements TM & © DC.
Of the images, the most intriguing is the one of Cheshire. While all of the images provide intriguing information and the second image promises the powerful voice of Keith David, Kelly Hu reprising her role as Cheshire immediately points towards a Young Justice connection. The obvious is that she voices the Chesire in the series as well. But could this mean this movie is in the same universe as the beloved series?

The magnificent designs of Phillip Bourassa are anime-inspired, so it would not be a far stretch. The Young Justice series also features time-skips between each season. This film could easily take place during one of those time skips and feature nods and easter eggs to the series. Or it could just be Kelly Hu is incredible and more of her and Cheshire in anything is just brilliant business practice. Both possibilities seem likely. Chesire, Black Mask, Barbara Minerva, and Tobias White can all be seen in the film’s trailer.
