Obi-Wan Kenobi Official Trailer
Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place 10 years after the tragic events of Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. After facing his greatest defeat – the corruption and downfall of his best friend, his brother, his Padawan, Anakin Skywalker, to the dark side. Obi-Wan lives exiled on Tatooine guarding Anakin’s son while the galaxy is under siege under the rule of the new galactic empire’s new supreme chancellor and his right hand, Darth Vader. Though he is lightyears away, Obi-Wan’s past looks to begin catching up to him and his quiet life of duty will be noisily disrupted by the ghosts of his past.
The “Duel of the Fates” starts off the trailer before any visuals of the series instantly harken viewers to the final battle between Obi-Wan and Anakin. The emotions, the tensions, and the stakes of the galaxy are instantly felt, and though the lightsabers have been sheathed we know the battle continues. Seeing the Inquisitors brings so much joy, especially to fans of Star Wars Rebels, and knowing their power and purpose increases the anticipation and excitement for this series. On top of that, we get to see Kunal Nanjiani in Jedi garb! Then the trailer ends with the iconic breathing of Darth Vader putting a beautiful cap to an amazing trailer.
Though we know that the conflict between Anakin/Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi ends in Star Wars, it makes complete sense that there would be a lot of conflict for Obi-Wan before that. Especially in the years after Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. Obi-Wan left Anakin burning the ground of Mustafar butchered, and pretty sure Palpatine gaslit Vader into believing it was Obi-Wan’s fault that made it his fault that Padme died. So Vader using his tremendous resources to comb the galaxy to find the Obi-Wan seems like a given. Plus considering how many events take place on Tatooine, it seems impossible Obi-Wan’s isolate was all peaceful.

Thankfully, we are finally getting something to tell the tale of that time. Disney+ looks to be going all-in on the Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series and it looks phenomenal, as you have seen in the trailer and stills. I’ve watched the trailer three times, and get more and more hyped for the show each time. Not only is it the nostalgic fandom, but it just makes so much sense storywise. It is logical to the point of pre-destined. There is no way you cut off 3 of someone’s limbs and leave them burning on the ground, and they forget about it. Of course, Vader spent decades searching for the guy who brutalized him. He had to get close sometimes.
We’ll finally get to see the rage-fueled manhunt when Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on May 27, 2022 exclusive on DIsney+
