This is the first preview for the main Megazord toy named King-Ohja and debuts the first look at artillery Zord, God Kabuto. This Kabuto Beetle Zord is one of the first support Zords that becomes a cannon for the first armament formation.

Ohsama Sentai KingOhger features 5 Rangers who control insect Zords known as Shugods, which each Ranger getting a matching mecha to their motif. The main Robo of the series is comprised of a Stag Beetle, Dragonfly, Bee, Mantis, and Butterfly, but will also include 5 others as part of the main formation. The Shugods have been revealed to be mechanical life forms and guardian deities that helped fight the Earth Empire Bagnarak, which also led to the 5 countries being formed on Chikyu. The toy for the main Robo of KingOhger was revealed in an official YouTube video, showing how all 10 Shugods combine. This includes details about the transformation regarding how each part is formed, including the unexpected contributions of some of the Zords that form the Megazord. Some of the Zords have also been revealed to have asymmetrical details along the body, which is clearer to see for God Kuwaga’s design. Here are the official images showing the Zords, the Megazord formations, and how each part combines.

The most surprising Zords in the main formation include the butterfly, God Papillon, and Ladybugs, Twin God Tentou. The legs of the butterfly zord were never revealed and was a surprise to discover the piece forms the head of Megazord. God Papillon appeared to only form a decorative piece for the Megazord’s Sword so it is fantastic they are a significant part of the formation. An initial look at the formation suggested that the ladybugs formed the hands, but they are only a decorative Zord, with the hands already part of the Stag Beetle Zord.

The detail on the Zord is fantastic and it will be interesting to see their debut in the show. The articulation of the Megazord toy is beyond expectations as it seems better than Donbrother’s Don Onitaijin. This shows how much kids love articulation for their figures and this toy perfectly meets that need. It will be interesting to see what other formations may include the Spiders, Ladybugs, and Ant Zords since they only are decorative components to complete the overall form.

The God Kabuto is a separately sold Zord from the line and will act as an auxiliary Zord that forms new weapons for the main Robo. The Shugod is similar to the Zords featured in Gaoranger, Boukenger, and Shinkenger, whose toy lines include Zords that form new weapons and armor for various Megazord combinations. God Kabuto is a gold and black Zord that also has various details including a wing case that can open, before forming a large 400mm cannon to attach to the Megazord’s arm. Here is the first look at the God Kabuto toy and the formation it creates with the King-Ohja.

God Kabuto has a fantastic color scheme, which fans may recognize to be much like the gold warrior in B-Fighter Kabuto. The articulation of the horn and the wing case are fantastic features that make the figure stand out in its Zord mode. The cannon form looks absolutely stunning yet still manages to have a balance formed, with captivating shiny gold details. As the Zord takes up the space for Ladybug Zord in the regular formation, it’s great to see it is attached to the new Zord instead of removed.

It will be amazing to see the God Kabuto when it is also used in combination with upcoming Zords yet to be revealed. These new Zords in the line have already been revealed to be a Scorpion, Grasshopper, Snail, and pill bug. Each of these Zords will form unique weapons or armor for the King-Ohja, with the Kabuto, Scorpion, and Grasshopper able to create the first power-up formation when all three are combined. A Donbrothers crossover Zord will also be released for the new series, which has teased an image of the helmet like the 46th Sentai’s main Robo, Don Onitaijin.

Ohsama Sentai KingOhger King-Ohja Robo toy is set for release on January 22, 2023, with the God Kabuto set releasing on March 4th, 2023. The God Kabuto will also be getting a single release for the Zord to follow on March 25th. Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
