Redfall, the upcoming first-person action game from Bethesda Softworks and Arkane Austin, is set to release on May 2, 2023. Redfall is an open-world, single-player, and co-op FPS that combines Arkane’s signature gameplay with a new story-driven action shooter.

Set in the island town of Redfall, Massachusetts, the game’s story follows the citizens who are cut off from the outside world due to a legion of vampires that have blocked out the sun. Players will take on the role of a group of survivors who must explore the open world, unravel the mystery behind the vampires’ appearance, and take back Redfall. The game offers both single and multiplayer options, with up to four players able to squad up and take on the vampire apocalypse together.

Players can choose from a diverse range of unconventional heroes, each with their own unique abilities to combat the vampire legion and their followers. Devinder Crousley, a cryptozoologist and aspiring inventor, is armed with weapons of his own creation. Layla Ellison, a biomedical engineering student, has intense telekinetic abilities from a medical trial gone wrong. Remi De La Rosa, a combat engineer, is determined to rescue Redfall’s survivors with the help of her robot cohort, Bribón. Jacob Boyer, an ex-military sharpshooter turned private contractor, has a mysterious vampiric eye and a spectral raven that’s never far from his side.

Redfall offers a true Arkane experience, with a richly designed open world that blends the familiar with the extraordinary. The town’s downtown, the haunted forest, the decimated seaside boardwalk, and beyond are all handcrafted by the master-level designers behind Prey’s Talos I space station and Dishonored’s Dunwall. Players will fight through cultist outposts and supernatural psychic spaces as they piece together Redfall’s many mysteries.

The game’s seamless integration of single and multiplayer options offers players the chance to explore the world alone or squad up with friends for co-op action. Teammates can try different hero load outs and combine their strengths to find creative solutions to the vampire apocalypse. Players can collect an arsenal of specialized weaponry and customize their character with unique upgrades and abilities to suit their playstyle for guns blazing, stealth combat, and everything in between.
