Todd Phillips’ hit 2019 American psychological thriller film based on the DC Comics character Joker, became an instant hit among both comic book fans and film enthusiasts. It’s been 4 years since we last saw Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role and when it was announced that a sequel for the film was happening, many were excited to see what adventures await for Arthur Fleck.

Over the years, Phillips has posted various set photos and with each photo, fans become more and more excited for the film. On the fourth anniversary of the first film’s release, Phillips posted a photo of yet another set photo of Joaquin Phoenix as the character.

JOAQUIN PHOENIX AS ARTHUR FLECK/THE JOKER

In the photo, the setting is gloomy and rainy as Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) has his head raised up to the sky, eyes closed, taking in the rain. People with umbrellas are seen walking past the character, not taking one glance as they walk past him.

Phillip captions the photo with: “Oct. 4. Thanks for all the messages. Four years ago we had quite a ride. Lots of great memories. More to come.” Check out the photo below:

ALL ABOUT JOKER: FOLIE À DEUX

Warner Bros. confirmed that Joker: Folie à Deux is set to be released in a year on October 4, 2024. The sequel began filming in December 2022 and it wrapped in April 2023. Due to the strikes that have been happening, there’s a possibility that the film may be pushed back as many other studios have begun to start to push back on their many releases. It currently has been pushed back yet so let’s hope that all goes according to plan.

Joaquin Phoenix is, of course, back as the titular character While Lady Gaga has joined the film as the infamous Harley Quinn. Her character is placed in a timeline that is separate from Margot Robbie’s character. Robbie has been supportive of Gaga saying that it is an honor, stating on the casting, “It’s such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors get to have a go at playing, and I think she’ll do something incredible with it.”

Also joining the cast are Harry Lawtey, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Brendan Gleeson. Their characters are still undisclosed as of right now and Zazie Beetz is also set to return as Arthur Fleck’s neighbor, Sophie. Folie à Deux is French which translates to “madness of two,” which fits perfectly for the film since both Harley Quinn and the Joker have a very intense relationship.

When it comes to any detail about the plot, much of it has been kept secret so we don’t fully know what it will be about. What we do know is that in some way, this film is a musical which was confirmed by Phillips himself.

Also, no official footage of the film has been released to the public just yet. Phillips has only revealed a few images from the set but no official footage has been released just yet. If no delays occur in the next few months and the film is on track for release, we are most definitely going to see some trailers and footage from the film in the near future.
