Loki has become a fan favorite MCU Disney+ television series. After season one’s shocking finale in revealing He Who Remains, the series became the first Marvel Studios television series that was renewed for a second season. Two years later, we are nearing the end of season two. The big question is: Will we get a third season? As exciting as it would be to see the God of Mischief make his return for a third season, there’s a likely case that it probably won’t happen.

Series producer Kevin Wright spoke to Deadline about when it comes to the future of the series, they take it season by season. “There are certain things that Tom and I and other casts have talked about where we see this going, and I know there’s some excitement for that internally, but just from a storytelling standpoint, I think we always conceived of season 1 and 2 as a whole.”

When it came to being asked if the finale of Season two would live up to Season one’s, he revealed that he “hopes so” but that the finale won’t be a cliffhanger. “I will say it’s not a cliffhanger. We want to be able to deliver real fulfillment in what we’re doing, but I do think it’ll be exciting and unexpected and everything people like about this show.”

He has also spoken about how when it comes to Loki’s story, there are many other books on the shelf for the character’s story but there’s currently no set-up for a third season. According to Wright, Season Two is a conclusion of everything that was set up in the first season. He also explains that their goal was not to have drastic cliffhangers for their finales.

WILL THE LOKI SERIES CONTINUE?

It would all depend on how this series will end. As Wright says, there will be no cliffhanger in the series finale so with that being noted, we don’t think a third season will be announced. There can be a possibility that we will get a “Season 3 coming soon” at the end of the season but with the big events that will happen in the near future due to the events that happened in the show, a third season doesn’t seem very necessary.

The only way the series would continue running is top the new direction Marvel Studios is going for the Disney+ shows. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it has been reported that Marvel is leaning into the idea of multiseason serialized TV instead of just a limited series.

“And just as Loki, which returned Oct. 5, marked Marvel’s first season two of a series (out of nine TV shows to date), the studio plans on leaning into the idea of multi-season serialized TV, stepping away from the limited-series format that defined it. Marvel wants to create shows that run several seasons, where characters can take time to develop relationships with the audience rather than feeling as if they are there as a setup for a big crossover event.”

For now, we will have to wait and see what happens in the season finale. There are only two episodes left for the season. You can watch episodes 1-4 available now and new episodes drop every Thursday at 6 pm PST on Disney+.
