Bully Ray reveals who most benefits from Ric Flair signing with AEW is his daughter, Charlotte.

Recently Ric signed with AEW after being with WWE for many years.  It wasn’t entirely surprising.  There had been a lot of rumors about him moving over to AEW, but most thought he wouldn’t leave his daughter in WWE.

Ric now joins legends he shares a lot of history with like Sting and Arn Anderson.  He also joins his son-in-law, Andrade El Idolo, in AEW as well.  Time will tell if AEW brings up their relationship.

Ric’s signing with AEW brings in a lot of prestige into the promotion and it helps Ric promote his business ventures like his Wooooo energy drink. The new relationship is mutually beneficial for Ric and AEW.

However, Bully Ray thinks the person who benefits the most from Ric signing with AEW is Charlotte.  On a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray explained why he thinks Charlotte benefits from being in WWE without her very famous dad.

“You know who this actually benefits?” Bully Ray said. “Charlotte [Flair]. Daddy’s shadow’s not around right now for the next few years.” H/T To Wrestling Inc. For Transcription

Getting Out From Under Ric’s Shadow

For almost the entire time Charlotte has been in WWE she has been known as Ric’s daughter.  They were often paired up together, had storylines which had them on opposite sides and constantly compared.  Either way she was always under her father’s shadow.  Her father is one of the greatest ever so it would be difficult for anyone to get out from under such a large shadow.

Charlotte has been able to show that she has earned her spot on the roster.  She has been able to create her own legacy, but her Flair name still looms over her.  With her father, Ric, in AEW it will help her a lot with not being associated with him.  Ric also gets in trouble a lot so now that won’t come down on her.

However, Bully Ray also discusses how Ric going to WWE’s main rival, AEW, could hurt Charlotte and Ric if WWE decides to be petty.  He asked his co-hosts if they agree that WWE stood by Ric or backed him up during low points in his life and career, to which they all agreed.  Bully Ray then reveals how he thinks WWE could be petty towards Ric.

“The WWE’s gonna go, ‘We stood by you. We never put anyone else in a position to break your record [16 time world champion], but now you’ve decided to take your talents elsewhere,” Bully Ray said. “To a company that has created a little bit of problems for the WWE, now maybe one of our guys needs to become the GOAT of all GOATS and the most decorated world champion of all time.”

The way Bully Ray thinks they may get back at Ric is by having someone break his world championship record.  It just so happens that a person who could easily break that record is in the WWE, John Cena.  Cena is tied with Ric with 16 world championships apiece.  If Cena isn’t willing to break that record WWE also has someone who is rumored to be returning soon in Randy Orton.

Orton has 14 world championship reigns.  It wouldn’t be hard for him to trade the championship back and forth a few times in a heated feud.  Rollins needs new challengers and Cena or Orton would be perfect for that.

Host Dave LaGreca also thinks it would make sense for WWE to have Cena to win it one more time and beat the record.  He sees it as a reward to Cena for his loyalty to WWE.  He thinks WWE would do this even if Ric didn’t sign with AEW.  Flair won those championships across many different promotions, but all of Cena’s reigns have been in WWE.

Charlotte is one of the top women on the roster so it would be unlikely that WWE would mess with her push because they can’t afford to lose her once her contract is over.  She has her dad and husband in AEW and she may leave even if WWE doesn’t mess with her or her dad’s record.

Do you think Charlotte is the person who most benefits from Ric Flair signing with AEW?  Did she need this to fully step out of her father’s shadow?  Do you think there will be any repercussions for Ric or Charlotte?  Do you think Cena will break Ric’s record?  Let us know if you think Charlotte will go to AEW and if it would be a smart move for her.
