Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning hosts a range of brilliant cameos that range from nostalgic appearances to whole new additions. The latest Digimon movie focuses on the continued lives of the Season 2 DigiDestined as well as introducing two new characters. To celebrate the release that places the spotlight on the 2nd generation, we have compiled the top 7 cameos that occur during the new movie. Here are our favorite cameos that have appeared that fans may or may not have noticed.
Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning was revealed to be the latest Digimon movie featuring the Adventure 02 series characters. The movie was released in Japan on October 27, 2023, with the US distribution by Fathom Events. Both the English dub and Japanese Dub with subtitles were available for fans within the US for a limited time as the movie will only hold screenings for 1 day each. The story continues from the aftermath of Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna while also adding to the overall lore set by both seasons of the anime series.
Digitally Monstrous Cameos in Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning
Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning contains a bunch of amazing cameos for fans to discover when watching the latest installment for the original anime timeline. The new release includes many iconic features from the 2nd Season such as the DNA Digivolutions that combines two partner Digimon to reach the Ultimate level. For fans of the original series, a bunch of different characters and Easter Eggs feature in the movie that fans will know from watching the entire 2nd Season, with some of our favorites highlighted.
7) Cameo waves of DigiDestined from around the World

Fans were delighted to see that many characters from the iconic ‘Digimon World Tour’ episodes were given a chance in the spotlight. Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning managed to fit every character that appeared in the various episodes. Although some DigiDestined may have been forgotten due to their brief time in specific episodes, the characters were still given cameos for the brand new Adventure 02 movie. These cameos also see these characters grow up and the scenes include the following;
- Yuri, Sonya, and Anna – Russian DigiDestined who were also seen during 2nd wave with Kuwagamon, Snimon, and Unimon
- Cathrine and Floramon – a French DigiDestined
- The Poi Brothers and their Syakomon – Chinese DigiDestined
- Mina and Meramon – Indian DigiDestined seen working with Yolei and Hawkmon
- Derek and Crabmon – Australian DigiDestined
- Dien and Gorillamon – Vietnamese DigiDestined
- Rosa and Gotsumon – Mexican DigiDestined
- French DigiDestined with Elecmon
6) Herissmon is a Partner Digimon
Although a minor addition, Heriessmon is seen as a partner Digimon in the form of a class lecture within an educational intuition. The Digimon was first introduced as a partner Digimon and mascot for the mobile game, Digimon ReArise. The Digimon previously appeared in an anime for the first time during Digimon Ghost Game as an extra character for the episode “Monster Pollen”, but this is the first time the Digimon has appeared in the Adventure dimension. This is a significant cameo as it shows that the latest Digimon could still appear in a series that has a long-running timeline.
5) Izzy & Tai Working on Live TV

One of the most obvious cameos that fans noticed with ease, both Izzy and Tai were featured on the TV that the DigiDestined were watching in the Ramen shop. For fans that saw the finale of the 2nd anime series, the future showed Tai becoming a United Nations diplomat for the Digital World, whereas Izzy is part of the Digital World research team with Joe’s brother Jim. This glimpse offers fans a chance to see them head toward this overall future before they have kids, with only Agumon and Tentomon missing from the scene. Hopefully, Tai will once again be reunited with Agumon to connect with the finale episode.
4) The American DigiDestined Group Cameo
Featured during the 2nd wave of cameos, a huge group of DigiDestined were featured together from America. This included a group composed of Michael and Betamon, Phil and Flarerizamon, Tatum and Airdramon, Maria and Centarumon, Steve and Frigimon, and Lou without his Tortomon. This cameo of the group stood out among the many that were seen, due to them being a full group. This could suggest that they could be their own team, much like Davis and the others. It would be amazing to know if they have their own Digital World adventures or maybe something similar, but as they are a gathered group, it could be possible.
3) The D-Terminal
The D-Terminal was a vital device used by the DigiDestined during their adventures in the Digital World. It contained the Armor Digieggs used by the group and was also used as a Digimon Database. All 6 DigiDestined obtained the device when they first obtained an Armour Digiegg, which included 2 given to Davis, Yolei, & Cody, with only 1 given to TK and Kari. Although they don’t seem to be using it, this suggests that either their Digivice phones could still link to it, or they simply rely on the normal methods without the threat of Control Spires/Dark Towers stopping them.
2) Tai’s Goggles
This little cameo was seen at the same time as Davis D3 Digivice and his D-Terminal, showing the original Goggles were still kept for safekeeping. The Goggles worn by Davis were given to him by Tai, during the first episode of the series. This occurred when Davis’ pair were broken during his first time in the Digital World and met Veemon. The moment that Tai gave his goggles to Davis also presented a hand-off moment as it marked the new adventure with a new crew of DigiDestined. It was fantastic to see that this amazing item remains with Davis after all this time, showing that he has outgrown them too.
1) Willis with Terriermon & Lopmon
Out of all the cameos featured in the new Digimon movie, Willis is one of the biggest additions to the nostalgic scenes that appear for fans to recognize. Willis was an American DigiDestined renowned for being a movie-exclusive character from the first Digimon movie, which saw him with Terriermon while Cocomon was taken over by a virus. He was also the cause of Diablomon, with the virus taking revenge against him. Davis and the other DigiDestined helped him save Cocomon, while also allowing him to activate the golden armor Digiegg. This iconic and nostalgic character is one cameo fans will love to see most.
Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning will be available in US theatres as the Japanese Dub with English subtitles from 7 pm tonight. This is the last chance to watch the new Digimon movie, with a release date still to be set for the home video or stream release.
