House of the Blood Axe is set five years before the events of A Child of Fire. The story features a backstory for the Devra and Darrian Bloodaxe characters from the film. They’re the leaders of a band of outlaw revolutionaries (portrayed by Cleopatra Coleman and Ray Fisher) in the film. The comic book prequel also reveals their formidable family’s history.

As a war is brewing on the planet Shasu, the leader of the Bloodaxe family is conflicted between living up to his father’s oppressive legacy and keeping the peace. It is now up to him to settle the conflicts he feels and his family as the planet is about to erupt into war. You can check out the first lettered preview pages for the upcoming first issue below:

The upcoming first issue will be hitting the shelves at your local comic shops on Jan. 10, 2024. It will also be available on Digital Devices. Readers can pre-order it from their local comic shop and Forbidden Planet in the UK and Europe.

Meanwhile, Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, is streaming now on Netflix. Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver arrives on the streamer on April 19, 2024. That will be followed by the director’s cuts of both features.
