Buckle up because TEKKEN 8 is nearly here, and fighting games may never be the same. With only a few days until its global release, Bandai Namco dropped an explosive launch trailer that showcases the glory of the long-awaited next installment in the TEKKEN series.

The Trailer Packs a Massive Punch

It’s been about nine years since the release of TEKKEN 7, which saw Heihachi Mishima finally defeated at the hands of his son, Kazuya. Kazuya and G Corporation’s power has only grown in Heihachi’s absence, spreading chaos worldwide. And, in true TEKKEN fashion, all hope rests in Kazuya’s son, Jin Kazama, continuing the longstanding saga’s family feud.

TEKKEN 8 fight

In TEKKEN 8, Kazuya kicks off the King of the Iron Fist Tournament, an international fighting competition set to determine the power rankings of the new world. Nations worldwide send their strongest champions to prove their might and fight for glory. The only catch? Kazuya will personally see that those who fail, including their countries, are wiped from the Earth.

With Kazuya threatening the world’s natural order, the responsibility for stopping him falls to Jin, whose latent Devil gene is the key to ending his father’s reign.

The TEKKEN 8 official trailer promises an “epic storyline” awaiting players on January 25, and from the looks of it, we’re headed for an explosive Kazuya and Jin matchup.

The game will also boast a 32-character roster on launch, which is impressive for most fighting games, but TEKKEN 7 launched with 36 fighters, with post-launch DLC raising that to an unbelievable 51. Although there’s no word, it seems safe to expect similar additions for TEKKEN 8.

Of course, multiplayer is a core aspect of every fighting game. TEKKEN 8 promises an online fight lounge, allowing players to create and customize adorable avatars as they go head-to-head against others worldwide.  You can check out the trailer for yourself below!

TEKKEN 8 launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on January 25.
