It’s been a long wait for The Final Shape, the major upcoming expansion to Destiny 2. With the release right around the corner, Bungie is starting to pull back the curtain on what players can expect.

We already know that Cayde-6 (Nathan Fillion) is back following his death way back in 2018’s Forsaken expansion. But a new trailer reveals just where everyone’s favorite Hunter has been all this time: inside the Traveler. Check out the Journey Into The Traveler trailer below!

Destiny 2 Explores the Pale Heart of the Traveler in The Final Shape

According to the latest Destiny 2: The Final Shape trailer, Cayde has just been hanging out in the Traveler. Well, not exactly. We still don’t know exactly how the former Hunter Vanguard returns, but the latest season’s emphasis on Riven’s Wishes may be a clue. Either way, it seems the Guardian will venture into the Traveler to meet our long-lost blue friend.

Although this new area, dubbed The Pale Heart, seems like a paradise with Light flowing through it (presumably where we’ll access the new Prismatic subclass), it may be nothing more than the recreation of memories.

It doesn’t take long for the trailer to get very trippy, with Cayde warning us of corruption spreading through The Pale Heart and the Traveler. The blight, sickness, or whatever you want to dub it, is clearly a product of The Witness, the overarching main villain of the Destiny Light and Darkness Saga.

As the ultimate wielder of the Darkness, The Witness wants to consume everything, and it won’t stop until it infects the Destiny universe, starting with the Traveler.

The trailer gives us a good idea of what to expect from The Pale Heart. It looks like most of the story missions for The Final Shape will occur at the new location. Guardians will fight Destiny 2‘s newest enemies, The Dread, including dual-wielding Husks, flying Grim, and psionic Weavers. And, of course, attune to Prismatic, the new subclass that combines Light and Dark.

I, for one, cannot wait to experience all that The Pale Heart has to offer. The scenery looks gorgeous, the enemies seem fearsome, and the visuals remind me more of a Remedy game than anything I’ve ever seen before in Destiny 2.
