Squid Game Season 2 is getting a cast expansion. This means more characters to possibly fall in love with, and have our hearts broken if something unjust happens to them. We have Lee Jung-jae (Seong Gi-hun), Gong Yoo (the recruiter), Wi Ha-joon (Hwang Jun-ho), and Lee Byung-hun (the Front Man/Hwang Jun-Ho’s brother) reprising their roles in the new season. While we saw Hwang Jung-ho being shot in season 1, and falling off a cliff, we never saw a body. There is a possibility he survived the gunshot wound. Maybe he’d even team up with Seong Gi-hun to take down his brother and the rest of the bad guys in season 2. The possibilities are endless.

Netflix confirmed that the new season “will follow Gi-hun as he abandons his plans to go to the U.S. and starts a chase with a motive,” said Netflix on Tuesday in Korea. Nothing else has been revealed thus far about the new season.

Unfortunately, there is no release date for Season 2 as of yet. It was stated that it would be released sometime in 2024. “The Squid Game universe has just begun,” said Netflix co-chief last month on a conference call with financial analysts. The Squid Game universe has already been expanded to include an unscripted competition series, Squid Game: The Challenge, and an upcoming video game. The new season of the hit show is currently filming now in South Korea.
