THE REGIME: Full Trailer Revealed for Kate Winslet’s New HBO Series

HBO has revealed the full trailer for the new Kate Winslet-led series The Regime, which will debut on the network on March 3.

HBO has released the full trailer for their upcoming series The Regime, which will start airing on the network on March 3. The series stars Kate Winslet as the monarch of a declining European regime. Check out the trailer below:

This is Winslet’s second series for the prestige network after the 2021 critical darling Mare of Easttown. Will Tracy was the head writer for this one, with Stephen Frears and Jessica Hobbs directing episodes.

Previously titled The Palace, it started filming in early 2023 in Austria and the UK. The cast includes Winslet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Guillaume Gallienne, Andrea Riseborough, Martha Plimpton, and Hugh Grant.

It’s A Great Time To Be Kate Winslet

In addition to the release of the full trailer for The Regime, it was also announced today that her awards vehicle Lee, an indie film in which she played war photographer Elizabeth “Lee” Miller, was picked up for distribution by Roadside Attractions and Vertical.

On the downside, Winslet, who probably wanted Lee to have dropped late last year and be in consideration for Best Actress in the current awards race, might have expected a bigger name backing her latest vehicle, so it’s possible she might be out of the awards season next year too. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall, to decent reviews. It will come out in theaters on September 20.

In addition, Winslet will be reteaming with director James Cameron for Avatar 3, in which she’ll reprise her Avatar: The Way of Water role, Ronal. The threequel, currently in post-production and set for December 2025 (as Disney reiterated in their Q1 earnings call this week), is supposed to introduce a volcanic race of the Na’vi, “the most antagonistic yet.” Plot details, including how the characters from the second film will be involved, are unknown.

In Other HBO News…

Due to the Super Bowl taking up all eyes on Sunday, Max will be releasing the fifth episode of True Detective: Night Country early. The second-to-last episode of the new season will be available to stream, before its linear-network debut at the usual Sunday time, from Friday at 9pm ET/6pm PT.

And we’d recommend you check this one out as soon as possible if you’re invested in the series. Heavy spoilers coming! (You can check out my full, non-spoiler review of the season here, and stay tuned for my dissection of the fifth installment of the nail-biting season by Issa López.)
