KONG DONS THE GREEN LANTERN POWER RING IN DC COMICS AND LEGENDARY’S JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. GODZILLA VS. KONG
The comic is by the creative team of Brian Buccellato, Christian Duce, and Luis Guerrero. Issue #7 will be hitting shelves on June 25. Here’s the official synopsis:
On June 25, the crossover that no one expected reaches its climax with the release of Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #7, available at participating comic book shops and e-tailers. In this series finale, two worlds face annihilation in an all-out war between the DCU and LegÂendary’s Monsterverse! With the help of Godzilla and Kong, can the Justice League win a battle against a re-formed Mechagodzilla and a new, even more deadly, hybrid Titan—a byproduct of two worlds, the likes of which neither universe has ever seen!

So it looks like in brightest day, in darkest night, no evil shall escape the sight of this mighty Titan. So if the Green Lantern Corps wants to recruit King Kong, it begs the question of what color spectrum of the various Lantern Corps will want to choose Godzilla? The Red Lantern Corps and Godzilla seem to go together quite well all things considered. The very idea of Godzilla becoming a Blue Lantern is rather absurd.
Not to mention, I can’t see Godzilla becoming a Green Lantern either. Godzilla may not be “evil,” but he’s more of an antihero in his best times. The Legendary films have established that Godzilla is an apex predator who simply balances the scales of nature. He’s not truly a philanthropic, altruistic force.
The first issue of the seven-issue comic miniseries debuted last October. Hopefully, that comic cover by Christian Duce is nothing more than a misleading tease, and the finale issue will deliver on the promise of the mighty ape getting a Green Lantern ring if only it’s a temporary way to a win for the good guys.
