INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE CONTINUES IN SEASON 2

In 2022, the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac (Anderson) recounts his life story to journalist Daniel Molloy (Bogosian). After the bloody events that occurred in New Orleans in 1940, Louis tells of his adventures in Europe, a quest to discover Old World Vampires, and the Theatre Des Vampires in Paris with Claudia (Hayles). Louis first meets the Vampire Armand (Zaman) and their courtship and love affair will prove to have devastating consequences both in the past and the future.

Just from the trailer alone, it looks like things are about to become intense for the protagonist. The Vampire Lestat de Lioncourt (Reid) will once again make his appearance in the second season as one of the key players in the Theatre Des Vampires. In the book series, Louis and Claudia encounter the troupe of vampires while attending a performance. The story was later expanded in The Vampire Lestat where Lestat is employed as an actor at the theater during his mortal years.

Once he was transformed into a vampire, the vampire purchased the theater. He then discovers a few vampires living together as a coven in the catacombs below the Cemetery of the Innocents and brings them into the theater to protect them from their leader, Armand.

Though the theater is a fictional place, there has been speculation that Rice took inspiration from Théâtre Grande Guignol. It was founded in the mid-1890s and it held performances until the late 1960’s. Théâtre Grande Guingol was famous for its horror plays, using characters and situations that many might find in real life rather than monsters or ghosts. The plays were horrific in the sense that many people who witnessed them believed that the performances were real. Even though it was horrific to watch, it attracted and fascinated many theatergoers for many years.
