Roman Reigns has faced and defeated the top Superstars in WWE and even his worst match were very good. This has all culminated on what could be his greatest match of his career this past Sunday against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania.

At the post-WrestleMania press conference, Triple H praised Roman Reigns. He also revealed why he thinks Reigns should be included in the conversation for the greatest of all time.

“There’s a lot of banter about the greatest of all time. You could make arguments for a lot of people, and there’s a lot of metrics you can measure that by or opinions, or whatever that is. If he is not the [greatest of all-time], he’s one of, absolutely, for certain, the greatest of all-time.”

The greatest wrestler of all time is an extremely hard argument to have because it is so subjective on the time period they wrestled in and what elements someone values in a wrestler. However, it and the Mount. Rushmore of wrestling is a conversation fans like to have.

Reigns has a lot of things going for him in the G.O.A.T. conversation. He was the longest champion of the modern era with well over 1,000 days as champion. That long reign of dominance came to an end this past Sunday at WrestleMania when he was defeated by Cody Rhodes.

Reigns’ career has been marred by a severe rejection by fans. He was thrust into the top position in WWE and fans were not happy with that decision. They didn’t feel like he was good enough to be the top guy. They didn’t feel like he was good enough on the mic so WWE put Paul Heyman with him. Fans rejected him for being a babyface so WWE made him a heel.

When Reigns really started to become great was when WWE and Reigns leaned into the hate and criticism he received. He was criticized for not wrestling enough so he started wrestling even less. Fans were upset that he only won matches because of outside help, so he had a Bloodline Rules match where anyone could get involved.

Reigns had to take the hate and push through it, which was probably hard because no one likes to be disliked. He faced all the obstacles placed before him both physically and in his career and didn’t give up. Eventually he came out the other side as the Tribal chief and that took a lot of courage. He placed the foundations of this rise to G.O.A.T. status while the world was still in the pandemic.

Triple H commends him for overcoming all the obstacles placed before him. Having to deal with obstacle after obstacle and still have a legendary run as champion is why Reigns should be considered a G.O.A.T. according to Triple H.

“To do what he has done, to overcome all the things in his career and the positioning, and the stuff that he had to get through and hung in there to get where he needed to be, to deal with his physical issues and health issues, to overcome [them], and the pandemic, to overcome [it] … everything that he has to deal with on the way here. And then to go out there and put on a run nobody has ever put on before, a run of epic, epic moments, epic storytelling. I see the word ‘cinema’ thrown around a lot, but it really is.”

Triple H went on to say that very few guys come along in wrestling and can say that they changed the industry during their careers. However, he believes that Reigns did change the industry during his latest run as champion.

The Bloodline story will go down as the greatest storyline in recent memory. It may not have worked if it was anyone else and that includes The Rock. The exciting part of the storyline is it isn’t even over yet. Reigns lost his championship and that will have repercussions, but we don’t know what they are yet. Triple H also revealed that he thinks his next storyline will blow people’s minds.
