With only one more month to go before House of the Dragon returns for its second season, HBO is already prepping its next Westeros adventure. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a six-episode adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s 160-page novella The Hedge Knight, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Production is set to begin in June, and they have just landed a director for the first three episodes. Owen Harris, who helmed the acclaimed Black Mirror episodes “San Junipero” and “Be Right Back”, will be sitting on the director’s chair for the first half of the debut season.
The trade also confirmed that the series is dropping the Hedge Knight subtitle it’d featured in previous press releases. It will simply be titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
The announced cast includes Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg, respectively. The story follows their misadventures across the country as the young squire tries to hide the fact that he’s the heir to the Iron Throne.
What Other Game of Thrones Spin-Off Shows Are In Development?
As mentioned, the second season of House of the Dragon will start airing on HBO on June 16. A third season is in pre-production. In addition, HBO is working on a separate series about Aegon’s conquest of six of the seven Kingdoms, with Mattson Tomlin (The Batman Part II) writing.
It was confirmed recently that the once-reported sequel series to Game of Thrones, focused on Kit Harington’s Jon Snow, as the team couldn’t crack a proper story for it.

Shows centered on The Sea Snake, a character introduced in House of the Dragon, as well as one following Princess Nymeria of the Rhoyne, titled 10,000 Ships, have appeared in the press but it’s unclear in what state they’re currently in. Various animated projects are apparently in the works too, though little information has transpired for now.
Seeing how A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms pans out should be interesting. The show debuts on HBO later next year. Every season of Game of Thrones is available to stream now on Max. The entire first season of House of the Dragon is also available on the streamer. Season 2 debuts on HBO on June 16.
