FOOTBALL ANIME SPIN-OFF BLUE LOCK THE MOVIE -EPISODE NAGI– Coming to UK Cinemas Friday July 5, 2024.
BLUE LOCK THE MOVIE –EPISODE NAGI–, is the first movie to be made for the sports anime series Blue Lock. The film it’s self will be based around a popular character “Nagi Seishiro” who has become one of the fandoms favourite characters from the series. The movie is set to release in UK cinemas from 5th July, together with Sony Pictures Entertainment. The title will be available in Japanese with English subtitles as well in English Dub.

Blue Lock the movie comes after the Blue Lock anime series which premiered in October 2022, consisting of one season made up of 24 episodes. The series was based on the original manga “Buru Rokku” written by author Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. As of March 2024, the manga has collected its chapters into 28 tankobon volumes.
The manga has sold over 10.5 million copies when it was last estimated back in 2023. The manga has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since August 2018; the manga was then picked up by Kodansha USA to be published in English digital release back in March 2021.
Blue Lock anime series is produced by 8 Bit who is known for working on; That Time I Got Reincarnated as Slime, Laid-Back Camp, The Irregular at Magic High School and many more. Director of Blue Lock’s movie is Tetsuaki Watanabe who has directed other projects like; Battle Spirits Burning Soul, The Ancient Magu’s Bride: Those Awaiting a Star Part 2, Haikyuu!! And more.
The original series follows Highschool soccer players gather from across Japan to Participate for a controversial project, that has been designed to create the best and possibly the most egoistic, striker in the world. Those who fail Blue Lock will never again be permitted to represent Japan. However, Japan keeps having a bad habit of failing to win the cup every year. Will this year be any different?

Blue Lock the Movie- Episode Nagi, released in Japan on April 19, 2024, and has already impressed its Asian fandom of Blue Lock scoring a solid 9/10 on IMDb. The movie attracted 337,000 viewers and has already grossed 460 million Yen (over 2.3 million pounds) in box office, according to Kogyo Tsushinsha .

Blue Lock the Movie- Episode Nagi, has been produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks, who established themselves in 2022, after the merger of Sunrise, the visual operations of Bandai Namco Arts and Bandai Namco Rights Marketing. Bandai Namco has worked on other popular projects such as; Royal Space Force- The Wings of Honneamise (Movie), Classroom for Heros, Suzume (Movie) and many more.
Directing of Blue Lock the Movie- Episode Nagi was done by Shunsuke Ishikawa, Shunsuke is known for his work on such anime’s as; Sword Art Online, Nanbaka, Detective Conan TV Special- Love Story at Police Headquarters Wedding Eve and more.
