Today’s video clip featured Linklater announcing the voice cast, likely offering a bit of a sample of his possible Batman voice. It’s quite an impressive list of thespians. The main voice cast is as follows:

  • Gary Anthony Williams
  • Jason Watkins
  • John DiMaggio

Besides Linklater, Ricci, Chung, and Bader, we will have to wait and find out who the other actors are playing. Otherwise, it’s an impressive cast list. The new animated series is described as “a reiminaging of the Batman mythology” through the lens of executive producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves (writer and director of The Batman), and Bruce Timm.

Batman will face an interesting coterie of supervillains throughout the series, such as The Penguin, Firebug, Harley Quinn, Clayface, Natalia Knight (also known to comic fans as Nocturna), Two-Face, and Gentleman Ghost. Based on the images that have been released for the series so far, it looks like the series is going back to the early roots of the characters, taking inspiration from Batman’s earliest appearances in the pages of Detective Comics in the 1930s.

It will be interesting to see who portrays the other characters confirmed to appear in the series, such as Jim Gordon, Nocturna, Clayface, Gentleman Ghost, and others. Minnie Driver is an Academy Award-nominated actress, so her working on the show is pretty exciting.
