In a statement from Paramount+ on the series, it read, “We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries, and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. It seems all hope might not be lost yet for the series. THR reports that show producers, Amblin, Xbox, and 343 Industries, are now looking to shop the show around for another platform for a potential third season. Paramount+ is reportedly supportive of a possible move for the show in such a case.

In a statement from 343 Industries on the news, the developer stated, “We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success, and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future. We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”

The show was in development for many years before it finally debuted in March 2022 on Paramount+. The series originally began development as a Showtime series in 2014. It underwent many delays before it finally received a series order in 2018 before later moving to Paramount’s streaming service in 2021.

It also had many changes behind the scenes, with the original showrunner and director exiting the series. David Wiener took over the showrunning duties for the second season. Meanwhile, Kyle Killen and Steven Kane worked as the showrunners for the first season.
