Paramount+ has dropped the trailer for HALO Season 2.

Prepare your Spartan armor because Master Chief is back in Halo Season 2! During the Paramount+ panel at CCXP, the streamer unveiled the highly anticipated second season of HALO. After a shocking Season 1 finale, Season 2 picks up with Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber) as he continues his fight against the Covenant.

While Chief leads a team of Spartans on screen, the series has another leader behind the camera, with David Wiener joining as the new showrunner. As if that wasn’t enough to excite longtime fans of the Xbox franchise, Paramount dropped the trailer for HALO Season 2, giving a first look at what’s in store.

The HALO Season 2 Trailer Delivers Nonstop Action

The Halo Season 2 trailer immediately sets the tone, showing that Master Chief and the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) have an uphill battle against an alien threat, the Covenant. Picking up where Season 1 left off, with the Covenant preparing to attack a human stronghold, the Chief only has one option: find the Halo and save humanity.

Although Schreiber’s Master Chief is front and center, the trailer showcases the series’ many returning faces, including the creator of the Spartan program, Dr. Halsey (Natascha McElhone), and Chief’s long-term AI ally, Cortana (Jen Taylor). Joining the cast for Season 2 are Joseph Morgan (Vampire Diaries, Titans) and Cristina Rodlo (No One Gets Out of Here Alive).

Despite adapting a massive property like HALO, it’s safe to say Season 1 didn’t live up to fans’ expectations. At best, the inaugural series received average reviews, while most took issue with the show’s writing, pacing, and differences from the source material. However, we can’t help but admit the Season 2 trailer looks like many of those issues could be relics of the past.

The new batch of episodes, helmed by a new showrunner, seems to include much more sci-fi action, at least. And toward the end of the trailer, we see an energy-sword-wielding Elite quickly disposing of a few Marines in a shot that looks straight out of Matt Reeves’ The Batman. If that’s anything to go off, HALO Season 2 could be the video game adaptation fans have desired.
