Alien: Romulus Panel At SDCC

The cast and crew of Alien: Romulus brought some creepy, crawly guests to the San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend. Attendees of the 2024 Comic-Con panel for the film in Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center were terrorized by the franchise’s iconic chestbursters and facehuggers during the experience.

The shocking panel showed a swarm of Facehuggers flooding the room, along with an iconic Chestburster moment on the floor, recreating some moments from the upcoming film. You can check footage of the Facehuggers invading Comic-Con below:

The panel was presented in partnership with IMAX and featured the film’s director and co-writer Fede Alvarez on hand, along with the main cast. The panel also featured footage from the film and taped content from Ridley Scott, Guillermo del Toro, and Dan Trachtenberg.

After the Facehuggers appeared, a warm flooded the room, taking the stage and some attendees in the process. The culminating stunt was the appearance of a chestburster on the floor of Hall H (see below). At the conclusion of the panel, 6,000+ guests were also gifted their own Facehugger mask, which they wore for a group photo with Alvarez and the main cast.

It definitely appears that 20th Century Studios is going all out for the upcoming new installment to the iconic sci-fi/horror franchise. Romulus will seek to bring Alien back to its roots. The story follows a group of young space colonizers scavenging on the deep ends of a derelict space station. In the process, they come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe: the Xenomorph.

Fede Alvarez directs the film from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Saygues based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. It’s produced by Ridley Scott, who directed the original Alien film and its later prequel entries, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.
