Vertical Entertainment releases the official trailer for Capone, the new biographical drama starring Tom Hardy and directed by Josh Trank.
The last few years in cinema have seen a new movement of biopics. 2019 alone brought films like the Rocketman, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and Ford V Ferarri, all of which gained high marks from both fans and critics alike.
2020 is working to continue this trend, although the challenges are at an all-time high as the world continues to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. With billions of people forced to stay in their homes for the time being, theatrical releases from so many different studios are being delayed and pushed to home releases. A new trailer for one of these home releases has just premiered, and we’re here to share it with you!
Official Capone Trailer
The film is loosely based on the life of Al Capone, arguably the most notorious and ruthless gangster in American history, and the plot will largely focus on his life after his release from prison. After serving seven years of an eleven year sentence for tax evasion, he was paroled due to severe health problems, and it seems like the film will largely focus on the latter part of his life until his passing in 1947.

Tom Hardy will fill the zoot-suited shoes of Al Capone, once again taking on a character with some kind of physical deformation. After having his looks severely altered via make-up or CGI in films like The Dark Knight Rises, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Venom, Hardy will continue this trend as he takes on the syphillis-afflicted mob boss.
Linda Cardellini will star alongside Hardy in the film, portraying Capone’s wife Mae. Cardellini stars in this movie following up a huge 2019, where she took on the leading role of Anna-Tate Garcia in The Curse of La Llorona and reprised her role as Laura Barton in Avengers: Endgame, the highest-grossing movie of all-time.
The cast is filled out with Jack Lowden as FBI Agent Crawford, Matt Dillon as Johnny, Noel Fisher as Junior, and Kyle MacLachlan as Karlock.

Josh Trank serves as the director, writer, and editor of the upcoming film. The recently-maligned director is looking to make a huge comeback in the film industry with this movie after taking an unprecedented amount of flack for 2015’s critical disaster Fantastic Four.
Capone is set for a VOD release on May 12, 2020, and this trailer should help ramp up the hype for a new and exciting look into the world of American organized crime.
