Becky Lynch recently revealed during an interview with Ariel Helwani how her husband, WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins, felt disrespected by being kept out of the loop that CM Punk would be returning last November at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames. However, she noted during her chat with Helwani that she doesn’t believe WWE was looking to intentionally disrespect her husband or other top WWE Superstars by not informing them of his return.
She also revealed that when she first moved to the US she was considering trying to go to TNA before eventually signing with WWE. Now, she sits as one of the top Superstars in WWE and the wrestling world.

Becky Lynch is The Man in more ways than one. She has fully cemented her spot on the top of the WWE roster. When fans think of female WWE Superstars, she is one of the first fans to think of. It is hard to believe she could have wrestled somewhere other than WWE in the US.
Becky Lynch Reveals She Almost Went to TNA Over WWE
After wrestling in the UK and Europe she decided to move to the US and give it a shot in the States. However, her eyes were not on the WWE. When she first arrived at 19 years old, she was looking at TNA as her new wrestling home. During a recent episode of The MMA Hour With Ariel Helwani, Lynch talked about arriving in America.
“I was about to move over to America to do a personal training diploma in Orlando, and my goal was, ‘Maybe I can get into TNA.’ The way that they were treating women there was so much better than the way that they were treating women in WWE. So it’s like, ‘I can make a splash there.'”

This was also around the time she was training for the bodybuilding competition. The year would be around 2006. That was during the time TNA was first starting to take off. They had a good women’s division with the Knockouts Championship about to be debuted. They had some standouts in the promotion at the time and others about to debut with two names being Gail Kim and Awesome Kong.
Lynch decided to take a long break from wrestling instead. In hindsight taking a break may have been the best thing for her. WWE ended up being the right choice for her because her career could have gone in a very different direction if she hadn’t become The Man.
Lynch also has a book out, Becky Lynch: The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl, which will showcase her rise through the WWE ranks. She will have stories that fans have never heard, like apparently thinking about going to TNA.
Hell Froze Over With CM Punk’s WWE Return
Another positive outcome of joining WWE for Lynch is the company is where she met her husband, Seth Rollins, and the two now share a daughter. Rollins holds a very similar place on the WWE roster as Lynch just on the men’s side. Rollins is the World Heavyweight champion. He is one of the top men on the roster.
Despite being one of WWE’s top Superstars, Rollins is not always kept in the loop. A prime example of this is the recent shocking WWE return of CM Punk last November. Rollins is not a huge fan of Punk, and he’s openly spoken about Punk in the past, referring to him as a “cancer.” Becky Lynch recalled her reaction to the commotion of Punk’s return while watching the segment play out from the Gorilla Position backstage:
“I was in Gorilla. There was a fist pound. Then my husband was going crazy by the ring. Then the producers on the headset are going, ‘Seth is freaking out.’ I’m like, ‘Oh no, this going to be a rough night.”

Becky Lynch also talked about her issues with WWE not telling their Superstars that Punk would be debuting at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames in November and Rollins feeling disrespected over the lack of communication. Lynch says while she believes WWE didn’t intentionally seek to disrespect Rollins, since the deal with Punk was probably signed “very late,” her husband felt that way for being kept out of the loop as a top Superstar. She continued:
“I believe the deal happened very late. As far as I know, I believe the deal happened very late and sometimes the tiredness hits. The deal happened late and then he had a match. He was working on his match all day. He felt disrespected. We think of ourselves. We are the universe. Everybody. Nobody is going, ‘I want to disrespect you.’ We may feel disrespected, but nobody is intentionally going, ‘Let me disrespect this person.’ Consideration should be taken into account. You should have told your top stars, of course, but nobody is going out there going, ‘How do I disrespect my top stars? My World Champion. How do I disrespect him?’ Nobody is thinking that.”

CM Punk had left WWE on very bad terms many years prior. He was not known as a guy who was easy to get along with. Eventually, he made his way to AEW after a long break from wrestling and proved he was still a big-money draw there. The time he spent away from wrestling did not make him easier to get along with and he was involved in two backstage physical fights in AEW with the second leading him to be fired.
Punk returned as the premium live event was about to go off the air. In videos that later surfaced on social media, Rollins could be seen yelling and screaming at Punk off-camera while Punk was making his surprise return. He had to be restrained as it looked like he wanted to fight Punk. It is not entirely clear which Superstars knew Punk was returning. Randy Orton previously admitted that Triple H told him about Punk’s return before the match.
Since returning to WWE, Punk wrestled only once on TV. He competed in the Royal Rumble match and tore his triceps and required surgery. He was last seen on last week’s Raw and it was revealed he will be the guest commentator for the Drew McIntyre vs. World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins’ match at WrestleMania XL.
