James Gunn, who is also co-head of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, is set to write and direct the second season. This is when he’s already hard at work on the new upcoming big-screen Superman movie, which is set to hit theaters next year. The series stars John Cena, who reprises his role as the antihero, Peacemaker, aka Christopher Smith. Peacemaker believes in peace at any cost.

Other returning cast members for Season 2 include Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, and Steve Agee. The TV series originally debuted on Max, formerly HBO Max, in early January 2022, continuing with the character from where things left off from The Suicide Squad movie, released in 2021.

The second season has undergone some delays, between the changes at Warner Bros. Discovery, the DC film wing being changed to DC Studios with Gunn and Safran as its new head honchos, not to mention last year’s WGA and SAG-AFRTRA strikes. Of course, Gunn also became the writer and director of the new live-action theatrical Superman film franchise, so he has a lot on his plate at the moment.
