Paramount also revealed a new single for the film from the film’s fictional pop star, Skye Riley, titled “Blood on White Satin.” The song is performed by Naomi Scott, who also stars in the film. You can check out the newly released official teaser trailer below:

THE TERROR RETURNS IN THE OFFICIAL TEASER TRAILER FOR SMILE 2

Naomi Scott of the Power Rangers movie fame stars in the film as the global pop sensation Skye Riley. The character clearly seems to evoke a mix of Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry. Unfortunately for Skye, she soon starts experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. It appears she’s now being stalked by the grinning Smile Entity from the first film, who has now chosen Skye Riley as its next target.

Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye must now face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control. However, the Smile Entity will stop at nothing to make her life hell.

Paramount’s marketing is emphasizing the pop-star aspect of the plot. The studio has even started a viral Instagram account for the fictional pop star Skye Riley. They even recorded a pop single for the movie, with Naomi Scott performing it under the name of her character for the film, so that’s a clever, interesting touch.

The subject matter of a horror movie built around a pop star with a dark, traumatic past is a clever premise. Considering the real-life turmoil Britney Spears has faced for decades under the scrutiny of the media and court of public opinion, it’s subject matter that’s still as relevant as ever. So it’s interesting to see writer-director Parker Finn use that world to frame a story regarding a horror entity that feeds on trauma and despair, driving its victims to horrendous fates.

The upcoming sequel also stars Rosemarie DeWitt, Kyle Gallner, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula, and Ray Nicholson. It’s produced by Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, Parker Finn, and Robert Salerno.

The first film, released in 2022, was a breakout hit for the studio, making $105 million domestically and $217 million worldwide off of a small $17 million budget, making it a highly profitable blockbuster. It’s no wonder Paramount fast-tracked a sequel. Smile 2 will be hitting theaters on October 18.
