The next installment of the Jurassic Park film franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth, will be hitting theaters in July 2025! Universal Pictures released the first details for the upcoming sequel, marking the seventh installment of the blockbuster film series, today. They include a new logo reveal video, production stills, and a synopsis with details on the plot and cast.

The new theatrical installment stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey as an intrepid team races to secure DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures across land, sea, and are. The film also stars Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and it will be directed by Gareth Edwards, a director best known for blockbusters such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the 2014 Godzilla reboot from Legendary Pictures. FIRST DETAILS, IMAGES, LOGO, RELEASE DATE, AND MORE REVEALED FOR JURASSIC PARK REBIRTH
Per the official synopsis, Jurassic World Rebirth will be set five years after the last installment, 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion. While it previously appeared that dinosaurs were now re-populating and flourishing on planet Earth alongside humans, it appears the planet’s ecology is now proving inhospitable to dinosaurs. The only remaining ones now exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived.
In Rebirth, the three biggest dinosaurs within the tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that could potentially bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind. Based on the synopsis, it looks like there are powers at work who are more interested in getting this miraculous cure instead of saving the dinosaurs who appear to once again be going extinct.
Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, who is described ad covert operations expert. She’s contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three biggest dinosaurs. When Zora’s operation colliders with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding, aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a “sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.” What that secret is remains to be seen.
Ali co-stars alongside Johansson as Duncan Kincaid, who is Zora’s trusted team leader. Bridgerton and Wicked star Jonathan Bailey portrays a paleontologist named Dr. Henry Loomis. Other cast members include Rupert Friend (Hitman, Obi-Wan Kenobi) as a Big Pharma representative named Martin Krebs, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer, Murder on the Orient Express) as Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked civilian family. Also part Reuben’s family are Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty), and Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs. Lopez).

Zora and Krebs’ crews are rounded out by Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF) and Ed Skrein (Deadpool). Edwards directs from a script by David Koepp, the writer of the original 1993 Jurassic Park film directed by Steven Spielberg. He also wrote the 2002 classic Spider-Man movie, and 2005’s War of the Worlds, also directed by Spielberg.
Longtime Jurassic Park veterans Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producing the project. Executive producers include Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart, and Jim Spencer. With production well underway, Universal also dropped two stills offering a first look at the film’s cast, specifically Johansson as Zora Bennett and Bailey as Dr. Loomis. While Jurassic World Dominion appears to act as a conclusion for the franchise as a whole, it looks like that’s no longer the case. While the film was not well-liked by critics, scoring only 29% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film was still a box office smash, grossing $376 million domestically and over $1 billion worldwide, with a reported budget of about $185 million. That appears to be more than enough for Universal to justify another go at bast for the dinosaur-themed franchise.
Jurassic World Rebirth doesn’t have an official release date yet, but it will arrive exclusively in theaters later in July 2025.
